Dr. Ambrish Mithal completed Seven years at Medanta on 11th of December, 2016. An eventful journey. Starting a new facility, setting protocols for patient care, trying to improve on what one had being doing earlier. Building a team, each member of which is now an accomplished endocrinologist in their own right- I lead an 'army of generals!' Establishing a culture of empathy and 'patient first' in the department, led by the enthusiastic team of patient educators/ counsellors.
The department has, over the last seven years, contributed meaningfully to important social/public health issues like gestational diabetes and vitamin D deficiency. We have been training fellows and post graduates in diabetes and endocrinology. Faculty has been participating in medical education activities across the country, to share experiences and help develop standards of care and has contributed significantly to medical research by publishing papers in peer reviewed journals. And all of us have been involved in spreading patient awareness through print, electronic and social media.
It is no surprise, therefore that Medanta Endocrinology is consistently ranked among the top centres in the country, despite being such a 'young' department.
Dr. Mithal is available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Medanta.
